Old Beaver Pond & Drain Pipe at Back Bay Blvd

The joy of Birding and birding friends

Yesterday morning, we headed 35 miles East to Whitehead Lake at Ivy Park in Pascagoula, where Patty hoped to see a variety of ducks. We had just arrived when Aaron, a birder friend of ours, texted us that he had sighted a Fulvous whistling duck at the Old Beaver pond.

Patty said we had to go; it’s a rare bird for this area. So we turned around and headed back seven miles west of our house to the Old Beaver Pond. When we arrived, there were seven other birders, friends of ours, binoculars, scopes, and cameras. And right there, modeling for everyone, is the Fulvous whistling duck; what a beauty.

It is very special having so many birder friends in the local area who share information and sightings, their joy of birding, and support each other.

From there, rather than driving back to Pascagoula, Patty wanted to go down to Back Bay Boulevard and the Drainpipe to see what we could find. We found quite a few Birds, including one of my favorites, the snow egret in full adult breeding plumage. I love taking pictures of these birds; they are so beautiful.

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying ‘I will try again tomorrow.
