Ocean Springs Harbor Sunrise

Sunrise and White pelicans

Ocean Springs Harbor Sunrise

Going to bed last night, thinking of a nice way to kick off February, my plan for the morning was to head to Heron Bayou to try another sunrise. I woke at 0400; the minute I stir each morning, Babygirl demands a few minutes of attention, and the next thing I knew, I was reawakening at 0530! That is pretty unusual for me and hard on my back. So instead of Heron Bayou, a 45-minute drive, we dropped down to the Ocean Springs Harbor, ten minutes away.

It was a lovely morning, and White pelicans started gliding in and landing just outside the harbor canal, a pleasant surprise. There were quite a few dead or stunned mullets in the water, caused, I suspect, by the cold water and providing a feast for the pelicans.

We need to be reminded sometimes that a sunrise lasts but a few minutes. But its beauty can burn in our hearts eternally.
