My most sought after, an Owl!
Many of you may know that a vehicle makes a great bird or wildlife blind; I suppose animals have become used to them in their world. Our truck is good and bad as a birding vehicle; it is high, which is good, but the windows distort with both binoculars and cameras, and the roof, well, it is impossible to see through! Some wildlife searches in certain locations must be done on foot or by sitting and waiting due to accessibility. We are fortunate in our areas to have miles and miles of dirt roads, deep forest, and open savannah to explore by vehicle. So, Patty now has her own safari vehicle, or a version thereof.
This was a community project, and the idea started with our experiences in Africa. Our friend Andy donated a fishing chair from his old boat. My brother, Tom, did an amazing job of reupholstering it. Our neighbors, Michael and Ray, donated lumber, and the kids all supervised.
We took our virgin tour with the new Birding Throne yesterday morning up at Little Lake and Big Slough, and were rewarded almost immediately with a sighting that Patty says she would not have been able to see from inside the truck. My most looked-for and seldom-seen favorite, an Owl, a Barred Owl!

Patty has always needed a throneโค๏ธ๐๐
She has and now has one!
SO COOL! Owls are amazing!
Love them!
Great to see the owl and throne. Just one question. Is that a flower on the tufted titmouse’s anus?
Patty, where is your gillie (sp) suit? Stealthy Have fun!
Love this!! The owl is awesome. Patty, you look good up there in your chair ๐
Hey Jackie, I hope all is well! She does doesn’t she.
What a fun idea. The chair looks great and Patty looks great. Rich do you use it too? When taking pictures? You may need to add a second chair? The owl is amazing and the fall colors lovely. ๐
No, I am the tour guide/driver!
Hey looks like a great idea to me Always fascinated by owls. That chair might need a seatbelt, just saying !!!
When I get above 60MPH I tie a rope around her and the chair and anchor it to the bumper!
