These images are from in and around Claypoint Park on Back Bay Boulevard, where a Bronzed Cowbird had been spotted. We didn’t find it — yet — but we had plenty of other residents to admire.
From Claypoint Park, we headed to Old Beaver Pond and were treated to a family of Purple Gallinules — parents and six chicks. In one of the stills, you can see a chick being fed. A couple of images later, the same chick appears to be throwing a temper tantrum, clearly wanting more!

The video gives a good sense of how they travel, eat, and live their lives on the surface of the lily pads.
